December 5th 2008 - Round Table on Women’s issues

Ten2Two were recently invited to a ‘round table’ session with Theresa May MP, the Shadow Minister for Women, to contribute our thoughts on Flexible Working. The discussion centred on women returning to work and issues such as the availability of good flexible working jobs, attitudes of employers, legislative policy and the impact of the economic downturn on flexible work. We will be following up with Theresa and her team again early next year to pass on more feedback we’ve had from the many member meetings we’ve held this year.

November 19th 2008 - Researching ergonomic buggies for our sponsor, Maclaren

This month we're helping out our sponsor Maclaren with some research they're carrying out, looking at the links between having children and back problems, to help them design more ergonomic buggies. If you'd like to contribute your views to this research and have a chance to win a new buggy please just click here.

The simple online survey should only take five minutes to complete.

November 10th 2008 - Ten2Two has moved!

We are pleased to let you know that we have moved! Our new, bigger office is still in Berkhamsted and is centrally located at the back of the Post Office adjacent to Waitrose. We have moved to gain a bit more space and to make parking slightly easier for our clients and members (courtesy of the pay & display and Waitrose parking directly opposite!). Our new address is 264a High Street, Berkhamsted, HP4 1AQ. Our phone number and e-mail remains the same.

We've also added a section on the website 'How to find us'

October 24th 2008 - Ten2Two at the Dacorum Excellence Awards

Ten2Two attended the annual Dacorum Excellence Awards where we had been shortlisted in the 'Most Promising New Business' category. With over 200 attendees and 12 awards, we were delighted to be awarded Runner Up in this category. The night also saw another of our members, Cindy Withey who we placed as Corporate Social Responsibility Manager, collect two awards for her company, Grass Roots.

October 1st 2008 - Busy Period for Clients

The autumn is traditionally a busy time for recruiters who are focussed on achieving their 3rd quarter objectives. Although there is much talk and worry about the economic climate, we are stressing to our clients the benefits that flexible working can bring - a great, talented professional at less than full-time cost.

September 23rd 2008 - Ten2Two presented at Milton Keynes CIPD seminar on 'Recruiting Future Leaders'

We were delighted to be asked to talk to 35 HR Managers and HR Directors, from local businesses, on how they can tap into the highly skilled talent pool of professionals for senior positions within their organisations - just be thinking flexibly.

The response from the attendees was excellent - whilst many of them used flexible working as a retention tool for existing employees, they had not seriously considered the benefits for recruiting.

September 23rd 2008 - Ten2Two exhibited at the Annual Chiltern Business4Business Exhibition

Ten2Two joined Bucks County Council, Learning Works, Henley Business School and 55 other exhibitors at this year's show. The event is attended by local businesses and at Ten2Two we used this opportunity to talk to both attendees and other exhibiting businesses about the benefits of flexible working and the outstanding calibre of our members. This event alone has already significantly increased our profile in the area and generated a number of new opportunities.

September 16th 2008 - 'Returning to Work after a Career Break'

Following huge demand for our member workshops and specific requests from members for an event that focused on Returning to Work after a Career Break, Ten2Two created this bespoke workshop. The evening was a great success as we held lively discussions, facilitated exercises and talked through all the factors and benefits that need to be considered when returning to work.

Following the workshop, a number of the attendees have made an active step forward, one is already having a first interview and another 2/3 have now re-done their CV's and have a much clearer view of what they want to do next.

September 5th 2008 - Ten2Two Continues to Attract Key Clients

Over the summer we continued to build our relationships with local businesses and have added Space NK and KPMG to our existing client base. We also placed a number of key roles including Direct Sales Manager, Marketing Manager, HR Manager and a number of temporary placements.

August 18th 2008 - Future Member Development to be Sponsored by Maclaren

We are pleased to announce that Maclaren is to sponsor the Ten2Two Member Development Programme for the remainder of 2008 and throughout 2009. This is fantastic news ensuring that Ten2Two can continue to offer members a varied programme of ongoing development tailored to their particular circumstances.

As you may already know, Northamptonshire-based Maclaren is a premier British parenting lifestyle company that produces the world's safest, most durable, stylish and innovative baby buggies, toys and accessories. Maclaren also recently launched Beginning, an organic-based, holistic range of personal care products for Mum and Baby, created on the principles of purity, nurturing and connection from the very beginning - if you visit our office you'll be able to see and smell the products!

Maclaren is an ideal sponsor and partner because we share a common ground - both companies striving to meet parents' needs in an innovative and considerate way. We have already worked with Maclaren in some of their future product developments and it's good to see that they're listening so carefully to parents' needs and encouraging ventures that support mothers, parents and families as a whole.

June 29th 2008 - Ten2Two featured in the 'The Mail on Sunday'

We received some very positive coverage in 'The Mail on Sunday' last weekend. The article, about the value of working mothers to businesses, featured Ten2Two and in particular, one of our members Jackie Campbell, who recently joined Bourne End based design company Frasers. The article generated a lot of interest amongst new clients and members and we saw a significant increase of traffic to our website. To read the full story and see a nice picture of Jackie click here.

June 19th 2008 - Help with finding our website (www.ten2two.org)

Whilst the phrase 'Ten2Two' may roll nicely off the tongue, it's not always the easiest organisation or website to find amongst the millions of websites on the World Wide Web.

A recent look at how people find Ten2Two on the web show some of the most popular search words to be:- 1022, 10to2, Ten to Two. With the help of Google Ad Words we hope that finding us will be that little bit easier.

May 1st 2008 - Sponsorship Deal sealed with Maclaren

We are delighted to formally announce that Ten2Two has signed a partnership deal with Maclaren, the market leaders in buggies. We share common ground with Maclaren - we both want to nurture strong relationships with mothers. Ten2Two has a well established membership of articulate, professional mothers whilst Maclaren wants to get closer to its customer base. Dylan Johnson, Maclaren Sales and Marketing Director explains:

'We are well aware of the stresses, strains and rewards of motherhood and we firmly believe that being a mother and having a career can exist happily side by side. The work that Ten2Two is doing fits perfectly with the Maclaren ethos. The incredibly positive response that Ten2Two has had demonstrates how important the whole issue of rewarding flexible work is to mothers. We believe that in order to put mothers at the heart of our design, development, marketing and customer support activities we have to have real understanding of the issues that they face. With believe that this sponsorship programme will enable us to do this even more effectively.'

The special partnership will run for an initial two year period and will kick off with an internal review of Maclaren's resourcing strategy, whilst Ten2Two will be seeking Maclaren brand ambassadors among its membership.

April 15th 2008 - First Birthday Party a Great Success

Our First Birthday celebrations went off with a bang with over 70 members attending along with representatives from the local press and a few select clients. There was lots of networking (and chatting!) together with drinking and eating in a very lively, positive atmosphere. John, our CEO, said a few words about the highlights of the year.

Carolyn McCall, Chief Executive of the Guardian Media Group and winner of the Veuve Cliquot Business Woman of the Year, was also in attendance and delivered an inspirational speech about flexible working and women in the workplace.

Peggy Hyll, the Client Services Director quoted:

"I would like to thank Ten2Two for helping me find the right people for two recent vacancies I had within my team. Ten2Two is by far the best recruitment agency I have ever used. I found their service extremely thorough and professional and the quality of CVs and candidates put forward was outstanding. I felt Ten2Two carefully listened to my brief and helped me meet my requirements very quickly. Finally, they also convinced me that flexible working hours can be very efficient and as good as employing full-time candidates."

As we look ahead into 2008 we are all very optimistic about what we will hope to achieve this year, the first quarter will see us celebrating our 1st year anniversary and by the second quarter we hope to be putting into place the first phase of our expansion plans.

Our plans for the year also include increasing our member support activity with additional workshops, members tips and technique guides and exploring additional member services that could be made available.

From a client perspective we will be producing our 'HR Guide to Flexible Working' during the first quarter and will continue to build and develop relationships with local businesses, helping them to find flexible solutions to their resourcing needs.
